Fatuma (Tanzania, 1918, 80 min.) is one of the great filmproductions at the annual iAfrica Film festival.

She’s a farmer, he’s a pest. A traditional rural woman has always risked body and soul, without reward or thanks, to farm her husband’s land and keep the family fed and cared for. She fights unfavourable weather, diseases and poverty. When Mnyusi squanders her prized harvest, and schemes to marry off their daughter, Fatuma has to fight her husband.

The film is Swahili spoken, subtitles in English.

Friends of ZAM can win two tickets for the screening of Fatuma this Sunday, 7 October 2018, at 3h45 PM. Send us a mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) before Thursday 4 October, 2018 and put ‘Fatuma’ in the subject line.
