For the international program Metropolis the VPRO (broadcaster) is looking for new local video journalists, documentary filmmakers and storytellers.
From 2008 to 2015 the VPRO produced Metropolis; a TV show in which the editors collaborated with local correspondents to report about remarkable stories from the daily lives of people worldwide. Metropolis compared those stories with each other by using various themes. For example: how do people from Japan and South-Africa experience wedding or funeral rituals, love, stress or sweet sixteens.
In March 2018 Metropolis will be back with an online-only format. Our project targets new generation of world citizens and Metropolis' strategy is that the reports are made by and for them. Therefore we are looking for talented young video/documentary makers and journalists. If you think you match this profile and are interested in cooperating in a worldwide network of journalists, please introduce yourself and send us some of your work.
The work is paid accordingly, and the details will be specified and discussed with the filmmaker when a collaboration is reached. We usually work with independent journalists/filmmakers, or small local companies.
We are looking for correspondents in the countries: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia. This is our international YouTube channel and our website (Dutch). You can email your application and some impressions of your work to: This email address is being protected from spambots.
