Probably the most prestigious collection of contemporary photography from the African continent and the diaspora is coming to the Netherlands. From April 14th the Afrika Museum will host Afrotopia. African realities and future visions are at the heart of this exhibition in which 40 artists take part. They 'imagine Africa' in their personal perspectives on social, economic, political and historical developments.

The exhibition is a first for the Afrika Museum as well as for the Bamako Biennale. The full exhibition has never been on view outside of Mali. The exhibition is on show until September 2nd, 2018. Afrotopia emphasises the Afrika Museum's intention to refocus on contemporary African developments and move away from the ethnographic and stereotyped portrayal of the continent.
