Together with Atlas Contact Publishers and Afrovibes, ZAM co-organised the book launch of Conny Braam's latest novel Ik ben Hendrik Witbooi, about the Namibian freedom fighter who led the resistance against the German occupation of Namibia and the genocide against the Herero and Nama populations. The launch took place on Tuesday October 4 at the Compagnietheater in Amsterdam. Big audience of about 150 people, big rounds of applaus, and great performance by Simon Witbooi aka Hemelbesem, who is a South African rapper/spoken word artist and the great-great-great grandson of the Namibian leader Hendrik Witbooi. The first edition of this novel is in Dutch, but definitely deserves to be translated into English and German!
