New members join the ZAM Board

Welcome Paul Mbikayi, Dineo Nhlapo, Joseph Seh and Milton van Wyk.

They will be taking over the reins from outgoing board members Annelies Verdoolaege, Gerard Wieffer, Jan Meijer, Randall Maarman, Margriet van der Waal and Randall Maarman. ZAM is immensely grateful for their contribution to the work of the organization. Thank you for being willing to share insights and experiences and, often, contributing in practical ways to ZAM’s many activities!

The new board members bring a wealth of knowledge and connections to numerous people and platforms that share ZAM's ideals. No doubt that ZAM's credo, Imagining a world beyond them and us, will gain even more traction in the coming years.

From left to right: Dineo Nhlapo, Joseph Seh, Maria Kint, Paul Mbikayi & Milton van Wyk.

Paul Mbikayi (Netherlands/DRC), a management consultant, is convinced that “leadership is defined by how we bridge gaps.” The gaps? Domination, humiliation, negligence, unkept promises... Paul says: “Africa has seen it all! And still we stand on the shoulders of giants before us from where we see and seek for a better future, a shared future with whoever's willing to break the chains and help reset the human relationships."

Dineo Nhlapo (Netherlands/South Africa) is a chartered accountant and takes on the role of treasurer on the board. Dineo grew up in Johannesburg. “My love for Africa and its creativity is embedded in who I am and based on the customs and practices that I observe-even while residing in Europe,” she says. “In all I do, integrity and ethics continue to be my compass and in joining the board of ZAM Magazine, my love for African affairs and finance can be harmonized.”

Milton van Wyk (Belgium/South Africa) lives in Ghent and is Head of the Music Library at the Royal Opera in Brussels. He is also a researcher at the Africa Open Institute at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. The fourth newcomer, Joseph Seh (Netherlands/Cameroon) is an expert on migration and development. He is associated with PSO as coordinator of the Thematic Learning Program and also works for Nuffic Global Development. On the ZAM board, he assumes the position as chairman. Seh sees himself as a Pan-African who “firmly believes that Africa's potential lies within its own grasp. As the “cradle of humanity” the continent nurtures all civilizations “with spiritual, economic and social sustenance.” Seh: “By understanding Africa's origins, we can reshape relationships-between humans and themselves, between humans and others, and between humans and our shared world.”

Finally, Maria Kint (Netherlands) remains on the ZAM board as secretary. Maria currently works as freelance Impact Manager for the Human Rights Tattoo Project in Tilburg. Maria is the founder and former Director of Cultural Development Trust in Johannesburg, an organization specializing in Arts and Culture Admin and Management. Activities also include Cultural Entrepreneurship Training and Service Assistance to emerging and established artists and organizations.
