Victory for truthful reporting | Nigerian journalists released

It’s a lesson the fake news brigades around the world should take to heart: in Nigeria, an attempt by the army to stop the country’s brave and ethical news platform the Premium Times from reporting truthfully and accurately has failed spectacularly. (Read our story on the attack here.) A worldwide outcry (of which ZAM was a part) against the arrest of the Premium Times journalists resulted in their release on the same day. Managing editor Idris Akinbajo, a member of our partner the African Investigative Publishing Collective, thanked supporters and pledged continued efforts to promote good governance and democracy.
