Editorial II | Magnificent and Wow

It’s always nice when a new initiative is warmly greeted, but the way our focus group (of publishers, photographers, journalists, fellow media and general acquaintances) responded to the trial issue of ZAM Chronicle was beyond expectation. Meant as no more than a first taste of our plans, and sent to only 150 close individual partners and friends, articles from The ZAM Chronicle 0 were positively reviewed and even reproduced by such diverse entities as an agricultural institute, a corruption research group and a progressive publisher in South Africa; a France-based media project; an arms trade researcher and author in the UK; a Nigerian cultural foundation and a major newspaper in the Netherlands. An internationally renowned photographer said ‘magnificent’ and a multi-award winning investigative journalist said ‘great.’ Partnerships that had been humbly sought with the Forum for African Investigative Reporters, Nigeria’s Premium Times and Sunday Trust, Netherlands’ One World Magazine, Radio Codka Nabadda in Mogadishu, The Monitor in Uganda, Liberia’s Front Page Africa, the Zimbabwe Insider and the Congolese investigative website AM 21, materialised spontaneously and wholeheartedly. They will lead to more exciting content and interaction on all matters concerning Africa and the world.
